On June 18th, I went to Shaw Park for the Big Bike Ride. Where I met up with www.energy106.ca (a Winnipeg Radio Station), and MacDon Industries. To ride the big bike and raise money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Warm up before riding the Big Bike

Warm up before riding the Big Bike

Before we got on the bike, we had to warm up. By playing this game with a foam milk carton. We had two teams and the person at the start of each line puts the milk carton below there legs for the person behind them to grab it and pass it over there head and so on. Until the person in the back gets it and runs to the front of the line and it starts over till everyone has gone and ran up to the front. I’m pretty sure it ended in a tie.

After that we all got on the bike, there is 28 seats. Taller seats in the front, and shorter seats in the back… I had to sit in the back… I had some struggles pedaling because my legs weren’t long enough. But it was still so much fun! And I hope to do it again next year!!

My BBQ Fundraiser!
So on June 27th, I had my fundraiser at the local Co-op grocery store. All food was donated by co-op & thank you so much for that! My family came & helped out.
So who all helped out in my family? Well my two younger Brothers Justy & Jared they didn’t really help but they wore crowns I bought at the dollar store so they kinda helped by doing that. My mom helped by organizing it all. My dad & uncle Russ were cooking all the food. My cousin Sage was taking people’s orders. My Grammy (Grandma) was dealing with the money for the food it was 3$ for drink & sausage on a bun. My Grampy (grandpa) was dealing with the Donations for Free the Children, the 50/50 raffle tickets & personal donations towards the pageant entry fee. & Also my friend Sammi came & helped out all day. So thanks to my family for coming out & helping out.
So my BBQ went really well. But the weather was ok. It was raining a lot & pouring really hard! Also there was thunder & lighting! But there is no stopping the Harborne family! It was a very successful day!

Hello, everyone for the past two-three weeks I’ve been extremely busy with events! But I love it, although it does take the energy out of you. Its still worth it!

June 13th, I went to Chicken Daze. For those who don’t know what Chicken Daze is it’s a Fair with Chicken Races, and other fun activities for the whole family.

When I first got there I was helping out in the Children’s Tent.

Children's Tent

Children’s Tent

It was really fun, & the little kids were so cute. They asked a lot of questions like “Are you a princess?” or “Is your crown really heavy?” I helped out give tattoos to the kids. But after a few hours I met up with Pockets the Squirrel. He’s the Oakbank Credit Union mascot. I followed him around the fair for a bit until I had to go to the Children’s dance off. I had to lead the Chicken Dance… But I didn’t the moves to it. So I followed the kids instead.

I didn't know what I was doing!

I didn’t know what I was doing!

I thought to myself I should practice the dance before then I thought no I’ve known this dance since kindergarten… clearly I have forgotten the dance! When the chicken dance was over, the kids had a dance off. Each kid gets to lead their own dance while everyone else copies them & all the kids get a prize after. When all the kids finished dancing, the Chicken Wing eating contests were about to start! There was two heats of ten kids, each kid had to eat 10 Honey Garlic Chicken Wings. First heat was ages 7-11, & there was one girl in this heat, she was actually the only girl in the kids chicken wing eating contest. I told her to show them boys what girls are made of, and she smiled at me.

Then the eating begun. I’ve never judged a chicken wing eating contest before but it was really easy. I just had wait to see who eats all the chicken wings. It was something new that I never would’ve expected to see myself judging but hey it was fun, & the crowd was roaring! When the first heat was done, the second heat came up. It was ages 12-15, It was quite entertaining to watch. But my only fear was one of the kids wouldn’t be able to keep it down.

Shortly after that was the adult chicken wing eating contest they had to eat 24 hot & spicy chicken wings. They ate it so fast too!

The Heat didn’t seem to phase them whatsoever! They were talking & laughing while eating. It was a friendly competition. But the crowd was huge! Chanting for the winner! As the last few wings were being eaten.

I had an amazing day at Chicken Daze! I defiantly would go back again next year. It was such a great experience and good weather too! Until I was leaving, it started pouring! I had to run cause I didn’t want my sash & crown wet! But otherwise Chicken Daze was so much fun!

The Hair Care Kit from Dynasty of hair.

The Hair Care Kit from Dynasty of hair.

Good evening everyone(it’s evening for me right now as I type this), so last week I was given this amazing hair care kit! From Dynasty of Hair (Local hair salon that I go to.) They gave me this wonderful hair care kit! It came with:

  • Heat Protection Spray
  • Color preserver shampoo
  • Designing Mouse
  • Dust it Flex
  • Hair Spray
  • Pure African Shea Oil Damage Repair
  • Uniq One – All in One Hair Treatment
  • Daily Moisturising Shampoo
  • Schwarzkopf Mini Hair Dryer
  • BaByliss Pro Ceramic Curling iron

I love everything that they have supplied me, & I am so thankful for support that they have given me. I know I haven’t been as active as I would like to be on my blog but I have been super busy with Track. I had a track meet in Stonewall. I ran the 100 meter & 200m. I came in fourth place for the 200 meter. But for the 100 meter I ran it in 13.25 seconds. Which I was super proud of myself for because I was so busy with boxing I hadn’t been to practice in a few weeks. I ended up coming in first for the 100 meter. Then I had another track meet at my school. I ran the 400 meter and placed fourth… or even worse I have no clue.  I’m not too sure I didn’t care what place I came in for that because I’m more focused on the sprints now. I placed first in the 200 meter & third in the 100 meter. That qualified me to run in the Manitoba High School Track & Field Provincials.  So this Thursday was provincials &  I didn’t get to run the 100 meter because of a mess up that happened but I got to watch a lot of events. But on Friday I ran the 200 meter, and ran that in 29.50 which I think I think I could’ve done better. But it was so cool to see everything. But next Saturday I’ll be going to Chicken Daze. For those who don’t know what that is, its chicken races, a carnival & chicken wing eating contests in Springfield. I am going there & helping out & I cannot wait!

Hi, this is all about me, Carrington. Also MISS TEEN EASTMAN.

I am sixteen years old. I am from Bèausejour Manitoba. I currently am in grade nine at Ècole Edward Schreyer School. I am a very athletic girl. I am on the school track team, & I love running, & I’ve placed 1st at many track events since grade six & since then I’ve always loved track. I really love Performing on stage for dance in my schools talent show… I’ve never took dance but I still love dancing. I’ve placed 4th in the high school talent show & 1st in the middle years talent show. I also volunteer at school events, & I tutor & babysit children with special needs, & I’ve learned to give insulin as well. But my number one passion & talent is boxing. I’m a proud member of the Eastman Boxing Club (Fight Team) since I was ten years old. I’m a Ringside World champion 2012 runner-up & a provincial walkover champion. I have twin brothers that also box & fight with me. We get to spar each other at boxing which is really funny because, Hey who doesn’t love punching their siblings in the face. But I’ve trained very hard & it took me two years of hard work before I won my 1st fight, but I never gave up! Here is one of my biggest struggles that I deal with everyday, & that is ADHD (I take pills everyday to help me cope better). But nobody really knows about it except family & a few close friends. But I am telling everyone this now. To show even with a struggle, or something you can do amazing things no matter what. But having ADHD made me get held back a year in grade four because I didn’t learn anything at all! Which made it very hard for me, cause I knew nothing. But I pushed through & never gave up. That’s why my platform is about never giving up. Because I didn’t give up then & I am not giving up now.
